A search for the first massive galaxy clusters
Chris J. Willott, David Crampton, John B. Hutchings +5
We have obtained deep, multi-band imaging observations around three of the most distant known quasars at redshifts z>6. Standard accretion theory predicts that the supermassive bla…
Structural properties of discs and bulges of early-type galaxies
Roelof S. de Jong, Luc Simard, Roger L. Davies +5
We have used the EFAR sample of galaxies to study the light distributions of early-type galaxies. We decompose the 2D light distribution of the galaxies in a flattened spheroidal c…
The build-up of the red-sequence in galaxy clusters since z~0.8
G. De Lucia, B. M. Poggianti, A. Aragon-Salamanca +10
We study the rest-frame (U-V) color-magnitude relation in 4 clusters at redshifts 0.7-0.8, drawn from the ESO Distant Cluster Survey. We confirm that red-sequence galaxies in these…
Observing the build-up of the colour-magnitude relation at redshift ~0.8
G. De Lucia, B. M. Poggianti, A. Aragon-Salamanca +11
We analyse the rest-frame (U-V) colour-magnitude relation for 2 clusters at redshift 0.7 and 0.8, drawn from the ESO Distant Cluster Survey. By comparing with the population of red…
