Spatio-temporal lasing dynamics in a Limaçon-shaped microcavity
Kyungduk Kim, Stefan Bittner, Yuhao Jin +3
Limaçon-shaped microdisk lasers are promising on-chip light sources with low lasing threshold and unidirectional output. We conduct an experimental study on the lasing dynamics of…
Exploiting structural nonlinearity of a reconfigurable multiple-scattering system
Yaniv Eliezer, Ulrich Ruhrmair, Nils Wisiol +2
Nonlinear optics is a rapidly growing field that has found a wide range of applications. A major limitation, however, is the demand of high power, especially for high-order nonline…
Complex nonlinear dynamics of polarization and transverse modes in a broad-area VCSEL
Stefan Bittner, Marc Sciamanna
Lasers can exhibit nonlinear and chaotic dynamics driven by the interaction of multiple lasing modes, and investigating the different scenarios of mode competition and bifurcations…
Sensitive control of broad-area semiconductor lasers by cavity shape
Kyungduk Kim, Stefan Bittner, Yuhao Jin +5
The ray dynamics of optical cavities exhibits bifurcation points: special geometries at which ray trajectories switch abruptly between stable and unstable. A prominent example is t…
