On the role of moderator and mediator variables in conditional event attribution of heatwaves over Europe
Sebastian Buschow, Petra Friederichs, Andreas Hense
This study examines how a risk-based attribution analysis of European heat wave events under climate change varies when explanatory variables are included in the analysis. Instead…
A Matern based multivariate Gaussian random process for a consistent model of the horizontal wind components and related variables
Rüdiger Hewer, Petra Friederichs, Andreas Hense +1
The integration of physical relationships into stochastic models is of major interest e.g. in data assimilation. Here, a multivariate Gaussian random field formulation is introduce…
Record occurrence and record values in daily and monthly temperatures
Gregor Wergen, Andreas Hense, Joachim Krug
We analyze the occurrence and the values of record-breaking temperatures in daily and monthly temperature observations. Our aim is to better understand and quantify the statistics…
A Stochastic Energy Budget Model Using Physically Based Red Noise
Michael Weniger, Anton Bovier, Andreas Hense
A method to describe unresolved processes in meteorological models by physically based stochastic processes (SP) is proposed by the example of an energy budget model (EBM). Contrar…
