High-efficiency light-wave control with all-dielectric optical Huygens' metasurfaces
Manuel Decker, Isabelle Staude, Matthias Falkner +5
Optical metasurfaces have developed as a breakthrough concept for advanced wave-front engineering enabled by subwavelength resonant nanostructures. However, reflection and/or absor…
Directional perfect absorption using deep subwavelength low permittivity films
Ting S. Luk, Salvatore Campione, Iltai Kim +8
We experimentally demonstrate single beam directional perfect absorption (to within experimental accuracy) of p-polarized light in the near-infrared using unpatterned, deep subwave…
Electrodynamic modeling of strong coupling between a metasurface and intersubband transitions in quantum wells
Salvatore Campione, Alexander Benz, John F. Klem +3
Strong light-matter coupling has recently been demonstrated in sub-wavelength volumes by coupling engineered optical transitions in semiconductor heterostructures (e.g., quantum we…
Optical Magnetic Mirrors without Metals
Sheng Liu, Michael B. Sinclair, Thomas S. Mahony +9
The reflection of an optical wave from a metal, arising from strong interactions between the optical electric field and the free carriers of the metal, is accompanied by a phase re…
