The Fluid-like Behavior of Kinetic Alfvén Turbulence in Space Plasma
Honghong Wu, Daniel Verscharen, Robert T. Wicks +3
Kinetic Alfvén waves (KAWs) are the short-wavelength extension of the MHD Alfvén-wave branch in the case of highly-oblique propagation with respect to the background magnetic field…
NHDS: The New Hampshire Dispersion Relation Solver
Daniel Verscharen, Benjamin D. G. Chandran
NHDS is the New Hampshire Dispersion Relation Solver. This article describes the numerics of the solver and its capabilities. The code is available for download on https://github.c…
ALPS: The Arbitrary Linear Plasma Solver
Daniel Verscharen, Kristopher G. Klein, Benjamin D. G. Chandran +3
The Arbitrary Linear Plasma Solver (ALPS) is a parallelised numerical code that solves the dispersion relation in a hot (even relativistic) magnetised plasma with an arbitrary numb…
The Role of Proton-Cyclotron Resonance as a Dissipation Mechanism in Solar Wind Turbulence: A Statistical Study at Ion-Kinetic Scales
Lloyd D. Woodham, Robert T. Wicks, Daniel Verscharen +1
We use magnetic field and ion moment data from the MFI and SWE instruments onboard the Wind spacecraft to study the nature of solar wind turbulence at ion-kinetic scales. We analyz…
