Flare X-ray observations of AB Dor: evidence for Stellar Coronal Opacity
M. Matranga, M. Mathioudakis, H. R. M. Kay +1
X-ray spectra of the late-type star AB Dor, obtained with the XMM-Newton satellite are analysed. AB Dor was particularly active during the observations. An emission measure reconst…
Relationship between X-ray and ultraviolet emission of flares from dMe stars observed by XMM-Newton
U. Mitra-Kraev, L. K. Harra, M. Guedel +6
We present simultaneous ultraviolet and X-ray observations of the dMe-type flaring stars AT Mic, AU Mic, EV Lac, UV Cet and YZ CMi obtained with the XMM-Newton observatory. During…
CaII K interstellar observations towards early disc and halostars - Paper II; distances to IVCs and HVCs
J. V. Smoker, B. B. Lynn, W. R. J. Rolleston +8
We compare existing high spectral resolution (R=40,000) CaII K observations towards 88 mainly B-type stars, and new observations at R=10,000 towards 3 stars, with 21-cm HI emission…
A search for X-ray variability in the open cluster NGC 2516
Gavin Ramsay, Louise Harra, Hilary Kay
We present the results of a search for X-ray variability in the galactic open cluster NGC 2516. This cluster has been observed on 8 occasions using XMM-Newton making it an excellen…
