An Automated Method for the Detection and Extraction of HI Self-Absorption in High-Resolution 21cm Line Surveys
Steven J. Gibson, A. Russell Taylor, Lloyd A. Higgs +2
We describe algorithms that detect 21cm line HI self-absorption (HISA) in large data sets and extract it for analysis. Our search method identifies HISA as spatially and spectrally…
A Self-Absorption Census of Cold HI Clouds in the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey
Steven J. Gibson, A. Russell Taylor, Lloyd A. Higgs +2
We present a 21cm line HI self-absorption (HISA) survey of cold atomic gas within Galactic longitudes 75 to 146 degrees and latitudes -3 to +5 degrees. We identify HISA as spatiall…
The Cygnus X region XXII. A probable HAeBe star with a giant bipolar outflow in DR 16
Otto P. Behre, Heinrich J. Wendker, Lloyd A. Higgs +1
From medium-resolution radio images, DR 16 was suspected to be a large cometary nebula. To test this suggestion we obtained a higher resolution (15\arcsec) VLA continuum map. We al…
The Synthesis Telescope at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory
T. L. Landecker, P. E. Dewdney, T. A. Burgess +13
We describe an aperture synthesis radio telescope optimized for studies of the Galactic interstellar medium (ISM), providing the ability to image extended structures with high angu…
