Observational Tests of Intergalactic Enrichment Models
Anthony Aguirre, Joop Schaye
We summarize recent results assessing the carbon and silicon abundances of the intergalactic medium (IGM) using the `pixel optical depth' technique. We briefly discuss the implicat…
Metal Enrichment of the Intergalactic Medium in Cosmological Simulations
Anthony Aguirre, Lars Hernquist, Joop Schaye +3
Observations have established that the diffuse intergalactic medium (IGM) at z ~ 3 is enriched to ~0.1-1% solar metallicity and that the hot gas in large clusters of galaxies (ICM)…
Enrichment of the Intergalactic Medium by Radiation Pressure Driven Dust Efflux
Anthony Aguirre, Lars Hernquist, Neal Katz +2
The presence of metals in hot cluster gas and in Ly-alpha absorbers, as well as the mass-metallicity relation of observed galaxies, suggest that galaxies lose a significant fractio…
Metal Enrichment of the Intergalactic Medium at z=3 by Galactic Winds
Anthony Aguirre, Lars Hernquist, Joop Schaye +3
Studies of quasar absorption lines reveal that the low density intergalactic medium at z ~ 3 is enriched to 0.001-0.01 solar metallicity. This enrichment may have occurred in an ea…
