Near-infrared observations of water-ice in OH/IR stars
K. Justtanont, G. Olofsson, C. Dijkstra +1
A search for the near-infrared water-ice absorption band was made in a number of very red OH/IR stars which are known to exhibit the 10um silicate absorption. As a by-product, accu…
The Mid-IR spatially resolved environment of OH26.5+0.6 at maximum luminosity
O. Chesneau, T. Verhoelst, B. Lopez +6
We present observations of the famous OH/IR star OH26.5+0.6 obtained using the Mid-Infrared Interferometric Instrument MIDI at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) Very Large Te…
The mineralogy, geometry and mass-loss history of IRAS 16342-3814
C. Dijkstra, L. B. F. M. Waters, F. Kemper +5
We present the 2-200 um Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) spectrum and 3.8-20 um ISAAC and TIMMI2 images of the extreme OH/IR star IRAS 16342-3814. Amorphous silicate absorption fea…
Water ice growth around evolved stars
C. Dijkstra, C. Dominik, S. N. Hoogzaad +2
We present a model of the growth of water ice on silicate grains in the circumstellar envelopes of Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars and Red Super Giants. We consider the growth…
