Structure and Fragmentation in Colloidal Artificial Molecules and Nuclei
C. J. Olson Reichhardt, C. Reichhardt, A. R. Bishop
Motivated by recent experiments on colloidal systems with competing attractive and repulsive interactions, we simulate a two-dimensional system of colloids with competing interacti…
Defect Fluctuations and Lifetimes in Disordered Yukawa Systems
C. Reichhardt, C. J. Olson Reichhardt
We examine the time dependent defect fluctuations and lifetimes for a bidisperse disordered assembly of Yukawa particles. At high temperatures, the noise spectrum of fluctuations i…
Cooperative Behavior and Pattern Formation in Mixtures of Driven and Nondriven Colloidal Assemblies
C. Reichhardt, C. J. Olson Reichhardt
We simulate a disordered assembly of particles interacting through a repulsive Yukawa potential with a small fraction of the particles coupled to an external drive. Distortions in…
Heterogeneities and Topological Defects in Two-Dimensional Pinned Liquids
J. -X. Lin, C. Reichhardt, Z. Nussinov +2
We simulate a model of repulsively interacting colloids on a commensurate two-dimensional triangular pinning substrate where the amount of heterogeneous motion that appears at melt…
