Optical Characterization & Testbed Development for μ-Spec Integrated Spectrometers
Maryam Rahmani, Alyssa Barlis, Emily M. Barrentine +21
This paper describes a cryogenic optical testbed developed to characterize u-Spec spectrometers in a dedicated dilution refrigerator (DR) system. u-Spec is a far-infrared integrate…
Developing a New Generation of Integrated Micro-Spec Far Infrared Spectrometers for the EXperiment for Cryogenic Large-Aperture Intensity Mapping (EXCLAIM)
Carolyn G. Volpert, Emily M. Barrentine, Mona Mirzaei +21
The current state of far-infrared astronomy drives the need to develop compact, sensitive spectrometers for future space and ground-based instruments. Here we present details of th…
Operational Optimization to Maximize Dynamic Range in EXCLAIM Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors
Trevor M. Oxholm, Eric R. Switzer, Emily M. Barrentine +11
Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detectors (MKIDs) are highly scalable detectors that have demonstrated nearly background-limited sensitivity in the far-infrared from high-altitude bal…
Dual-Resonator Kinetic-Inductance Detector for Distinction between Signal and 1/f Frequency Noise
N. Foroozani, B. Sarabi, S. H. Moseley +4
Astronomical Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs), similar to quantum information devices, experience performance limiting noise from materials. In particular, 1/f (frequency) noise…
