Thermal and Non-Thermal Infrared Emission from M87
Y. Shi, G. H. Rieke, D. C. Hines +2
We discuss images of M87 from 3.6 to 160 um obtained with Spitzer. As found previously, there is an excess in the far infrared over a simple power law interpolation from the radio…
Does the AGN Unified Model Evolve with Redshift? Utilizing the X-ray Background to Predict the Mid-Infrared Emission of AGN
D. R. Ballantyne, Y. Shi, G. H. Rieke +3
Deep X-ray surveys by Chandra and XMM-Newton have resolved about 80% of the 2-10 keV cosmic extragalactic X-ray background (CXRB) into point sources, the majority of which are obsc…
Far Infrared Observations of Radio Quasars and FR II Radio Galaxies
Y. Shi, G. H. Rieke, D. C. Hines +6
We report MIPS photometry of 20 radio-loud quasars and galaxies at 24 and 70 um (and of five at 160 um). We combine this sample with additional sources detected in the far infrared…
Can the age discrepancies of neutron stars be circumvented by an accretion-assisted torque?
Y. Shi, R. X. Xu
It is found that 1E 1207.4-5209 could be a low-mass bare strange star if its small radius or low altitude cyclotron formation can be identified. The age problems of five sources co…
