Ionized and neutral gas in the peculiar star/cluster complex in NGC 6946
Yu. N. Efremov, V. L. Afanasiev, E. J. Alfaro +8
The characteristics of ionized and HI gas in the peculiar star/cluster complex in NGC 6946, obtained with the 6-m telescope (BTA) SAO RAS, the Gemini North telescope, and the Weste…
IR mergers and IR QSOs with galactic winds. III. Mrk 231: composite outflow with multiple expanding bubbles and BALs (an exploding young QSO?)
S. Lipari, R. Terlevich, W. Zheng +3
A study of outflow (OF) and BAL systems in Mrk 231 (and in similar IR QSOs) is presented. This study is based mainly on 1D and 2D spectroscopy (obtained at La Palma/WHT, HST, IUE,…
Astronomical Site Ranking Based on Tropospheric Wind Statistics
B. Garcia-Lorenzo, J. J. Fuensalida, C. Munoz-Tunon +1
We present comprehensive and reliable statistics of high altitude wind speeds and the tropospheric flows at the location of five important astronomical observatories. Statistical a…
The merging/AGN connection: A case for 3D spectroscopy
S. F. Sanchez, L. Christensen, T. Becker +5
We discuss an ongoing study of the connection between galaxy merging/interaction and AGN activity, based on integral field spectroscopy. We focus on the search for AGN ionization i…
