CLOUDS search for variability in brown dwarf atmospheres
B. Goldman, M. C. Cushing, M. S. Marley +21
Context: L-type ultra-cool dwarfs and brown dwarfs have cloudy atmospheres that could host weather-like phenomena. The detection of photometric or spectral variability would provid…
Simultaneous Multi-Wavelength Observations of Magnetic Activity in Ultracool Dwarfs. I. The Complex Behavior of the M8.5 Dwarf TVLM513-46546
E. Berger, J. E. Gizis, M. S. Giampapa +8
[Abridged] We present the first simultaneous radio, X-ray, ultraviolet, and optical spectroscopic observations of the M8.5 dwarf TVLM513-46546, with a duration of 9 hours. These ob…
Observations of Ultracool dwarfs with ULTRACAM on the VLT: a search for weather
S. P. Littlefair, V. S. Dhillon, T. R. Marsh +2
We present multi-colour photometry of four field ultracool dwarfs with the triple-beam photometer ultracam. Data were obtained simultaneously in the Sloan-g' band and a specially d…
A Hubble Space Telescope ACS Search for Brown Dwarf Binaries in the Pleiades Open Cluster
H. Bouy, E. Moraux, J. Bouvier +5
We present the results of a high-resolution imaging survey for brown dwarf binaries in the Pleiades open cluster. The observations were carried out with the Advance Camera for Surv…
The Magnetic Properties of an L Dwarf Derived from Simultaneous Radio, X-ray, and H-alpha Observations
E. Berger, R. E. Rutledge, I. N. Reid +12
We present the first simultaneous, multi-wavelength observations of an L dwarf, the L3.5 candidate brown dwarf 2MASS J00361617+1821104, conducted with the Very Large Array, the Cha…
