X-ray monitoring of optical novae in M31 from July 2004 to February 2005
W. Pietsch, F. Haberl, G. Sala +9
Optical novae have recently been identified as the major class of supersoft X-ray sources in M31 based on ROSAT and early XMM-Newton and Chandra observations. This paper reports on…
Lyman Break Galaxies Under a Microscope: The Small Scale Dynamics and Mass of an Arc in the Cluster 1E0657-56
N. P. H. Nesvadba, M. D. Lehnert, F. Eisenhauer +8
Using the near-infrared integral-field spectrograph SPIFFI on the VLT, we have studied the spatially-resolved dynamics in the z=3.2 strongly lensed galaxy 1E0657-56 ``arc+core''. T…
Lyman-alpha emission galaxies at a redshift of z = 5.7 in the FORS Deep Field
C. Tapken, I. Appenzeller, A. Gabasch +7
We present the results of a search for Lyman-alpha emission galaxies at z~ 5.7 in the FORS Deep Field. The objective of this study is to improve the faint end of the luminosity fun…
Tracing the Mass-Assembly History of Galaxies with Deep Surveys
Georg Feulner, Armin Gabasch, Yuliana Goranova +2
We use the optical and near-infrared galaxy samples from the Munich Near-Infrared Cluster Survey (MUNICS), the FORS Deep Field (FDF) and GOODS-S to probe the stellar mass assembly…
