Re-born fireballs in Gamma-Ray Bursts
G. Ghisellini, A. Celotti, G. Ghirlanda +2
We consider the interaction between a relativistic fireball and material assumed to be still located just outside the progenitor star. Only a small fraction of the expected mass is…
Hard TeV spectra of blazars and the constraints to the IR intergalactic background
K. Katarzynski, G. Ghisellini, F. Tavecchio +2
Recent gamma-ray observations of the blazar 1ES 1101-232 (redshift z=0.186) reveal that the unabsorbed TeV spectrum is hard, with spectral index [$F(ν) \propto ν^{-…
Cosmological Simulations of Galaxy Formation II: Matching the Observational Properties of Disk Galaxies
Fabio Governato, Beth Willman, Lucio Mayer
We used fully cosmological, high resolution N-body + SPH simulations to follow the formation of disk galaxies with a rotational velocity between 140 and 280 Km/sec in a Lambda CDM…
The ABC of low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations in Black-Hole Candidates: analogies with Z-sources
P. Casella, T. Belloni, L. Stella
Three main types of low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (LFQPOs) have been observed in Black Hole Candidates. We re-analyzed RXTE data of the bright systems XTE J1859+226, XT…
