Dynamical evolution timescales for the supermassive black hole system in the galaxy NGC 7727 (Arp 222)
P. Berczik, M. Ishchenko, O. Veles +5
Context. A dual active galactic nucleus candidate with a separation of only 500 pc was recently found in NGC 7727. According to the hierarchical merging scenario, such objects woul…
Eigenvalues and Eigenfunctions of Landau Damping Oscillations in Very Weakly Collisional Plasma
Evgeny V. Polyachenko, Ilia G. Shukhman
Landau-damped oscillations in collisionless plasmas, described by van Kampen and Case, are quasi-modes, representing a continuous superposition of singular eigenfunctions, not true…
Global survey of star clusters in the Milky Way VIII. Cluster formation and evolution
Jonathan H. Klos, Andreas Just, Evgeny V. Polyachenko +2
We consider tidal masses and ages of Milky Way open clusters, as well as a simple model of their distribution. Our aim is to investigate the space of model parameters and the corre…
Dynamics of stellar systems with collisions: eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in nearly collisionless limit
Evgeny V. Polyachenko, Ilia G. Shukhman
We examine the decay of perturbations in an infinite homogeneous self-gravitating model with a Maxwellian distribution function (DF) when weak collisions are present. In collisionl…
