Solar Physics and the Solar-Stellar Connection at Dome C
C. Denker, K. G. Strassmeier
Solar magnetic fields evolve on many time-scales, e.g., the generation, migration, and dissipation of magnetic flux during the 22-year magnetic cycle of the Sun. Active regions dev…
Flow Field Evolution of a Decaying Sunspot
Na Deng, Debi Prasad Choudhary, Alexandra Tritschler +3
We study the evolution of the flows and horizontal proper motions in and around a decaying follower sunspot based on time sequences of two-dimensional spectroscopic observations in…
The Thermal Environment of the Fiber Glass Dome for the New Solar Telescope at Big Bear Solar Observatory
A. P. Verdoni, C. Denker, J. R. Varsik +3
The New Solar Telescope (NST) is a 1.6-meter off-axis Gregory-type telescope with an equatorial mount and an open optical support structure. To mitigate the temperature fluctuation…
Solar Site Survey for the Advanced Technology Solar Telecope. I. Analysis of the Seeing Data
H. Socas-Navarro, J. Beckers, P. Brandt +17
The site survey for the Advanced Technology Solar Telescope concluded recently after more than two years of data gathering and analysis. Six locations, including lake, island and c…
