Unveiling the Important Role of Groups in the Evolution of Massive Galaxies: Insights from an Infrared Passive Sequence at Intermediate Redshift
D. J. Wilman, D. Pierini, K. Tyler +6
The most massive galaxies in the Universe are also the oldest. To overturn this apparent contradiction with hierarchical growth models, we focus on the group scale haloes which hos…
Lyman Break Galaxies at z~1 and the evolution of the dust attenuation in star-forming galaxies with the redshift
D. Burgarella, E. Le Floc'h, T. T. Takeuchi +4
Ultraviolet (UV) galaxies have been selected from GALEX. The presence of a FUV-dropout in their spectral energy distributions proved to be a very complete (83.3%) but not very effi…
Ultraviolet-to-Far Infrared Properties of Lyman Break Galaxies and Luminous Infrared Galaxies at z ~ 1
D. Burgarella, P. G. Perez-Gonzalez, K. D. Tyler +13
We present the first large, unbiased sample of Lyman Break Galaxies (LBGs) at z ~ 1. Far ultraviolet-dropout (1530 A) galaxies in the Chandra Deep Field South have been selected us…
Diffuse X-ray emission in spiral galaxies
K. Tyler, A. C. Quillen, A. La Page +1
We compare the soft diffuse X-ray emission from Chandra images of 12 nearby intermediate inclination spiral galaxies to the morphology seen in Halpha, molecular gas, and mid-infrar…
