Constraining the Envelope Structure of L1527 IRS: Infrared Scattered Light Modeling
John J. Tobin, Lee Hartmann, Nuria Calvet +1
We model Spitzer Space Telescope observations of the Taurus Class 0 protostar L1527 IRS (IRAS 04368+2557) to provide constraints on its protostellar envelope structure. The nearly…
A Flattened Protostellar Envelope in Absorption around L1157
Leslie Looney, John Tobin, Woojin Kwon
Deep Spitzer IRAC images of L1157 reveal many of the details of the outflow and the circumstellar environment of this Class 0 protostar. In IRAC band 4, 8 microns, there is a flatt…
Imaging Scattered Light from the Youngest Protostars in L1448: Signatures of Outflows
John J. Tobin, Leslie W. Looney, Lee G. Mundy +2
We present deep IRAC images that highlight the scattered light emission around many of the youngest protostars, the so-called Class 0 sources, in L1448. By comparison of the data w…
Radioactive Probes of the Supernova-Contaminated Solar Nebula: Evidence that the Sun was Born in a Cluster
Leslie W. Looney, John J. Tobin, Brian D. Fields
We construct a simple model for radioisotopic enrichment of the protosolar nebula by injection from a nearby supernova, based on the inverse square law for ejecta dispersion. We fi…
