Complex Spin Structures and Origin of the Magneto-Electric Coupling in YMn2O5
J. -H. Kim, S. -H. Lee, S. I. Park +12
By combining neutron four-circle diffraction and polarized neutron diffraction techniques we have determined the complex spin structures of a multiferroic, YMn2O5, that exhibits tw…
The S=1/2 chain in a staggered field: High-energy bound-spinon state and the effects of a discrete lattice
M. Kenzelmann, C. D. Batista, Y. Chen +4
We report an experimental and theoretical study of the antiferromagnetic S=1/2 chain subject to uniform and staggered fields. Using inelastic neutron scattering, we observe a novel…
Competing Magnetic Phases on a "Kagome Staircase"
G. Lawes, M. Kenzelmann, N. Rogado +11
We present thermodynamic and neutron data on Ni_3V_2O_8, a spin-1 system on a kagome staircase. The extreme degeneracy of the kagome antiferromagnet is lifted to produce two incomm…
Unconventional spin fluctuations in the hexagonal antiferromagnet YMnO
T. J. Sato, S. -H. Lee, T. Katsufuji +4
We used inelastic neutron scattering to show that well below its Néel temperature, , the two-dimensional (2D) XY nearly-triangular antiferromagnet YMnO has a promi…
