Measurements of 0.2 to 20 GeV/n cosmic-ray proton and helium spectra from 1997 through 2002 with the BESS spectrometer
Y. Shikaze, S. Haino, K. Abe +21
We measured low energy cosmic-ray proton and helium spectra in the kinetic energy range 0.215 - 21.5 GeV/n at different solar activities during a period from 1997 to 2002. The obse…
Simulation Studies of Delta-ray Backgrounds in a Compton-Scatter Transition Radiation Detector
John F. Krizmanic, Michael L. Cherry, Robert E. Streitmatter
In order to evaluate the response to cosmic-ray nuclei of a Compton-Scatter Transition Radiation Detector in the proposed ACCESS space-based mission, a hybrid Monte Carlo simulatio…
Development of Ground-testable Phase Fresnel Lenses in Silicon
John Krizmanic, Brian Morgan, Robert Streitmatter +5
Diffractive/refractive optics, such as Phase Fresnel Lenses (PFL's), offer the potential to achieve excellent imaging performance in the x-ray and gamma-ray photon regimes. In prin…
Big-Bang nucleosynthesis (Particle Data Group mini-review)
Brian Fields, Subir Sarkar
A critical review is given of the current status of cosmological nucleosynthesis. In the framework of the Standard Model with 3 types of relativistic neutrinos, the baryon-to-photo…
