A precessing molecular jet signaling an obscured, growing supermassive black hole in NGC1377?
S. Aalto, F. Costagliola, S. Muller +11
With high resolution (0."25 x 0."18) ALMA CO 3-2 observations of the nearby (D=21 Mpc, 1"=102 pc), extremely radio-quiet galaxy NGC1377, we have discovered a high-velocity, very co…
Detection of extragalactic argonium, ArH, toward PKS~1830211
Holger S. P. Müller, Sébastien Muller, Peter Schilke +6
Argonium has recently been detected as a ubiquitous molecule in our Galaxy. Model calculations indicate that its abundance peaks at molecular fractions in the range of 1E-4 to 1E-3…
Exploring the molecular chemistry and excitation in obscured luminous infrared galaxies: An ALMA mm-wave spectral scan of NGC 4418
F. Costagliola, K. Sakamoto, S. Muller +7
We obtained an ALMA Cycle 0 spectral scan of the dusty LIRG NGC 4418, spanning a total of 70.7 GHz in bands 3, 6, and 7. We use a combined local thermal equilibrium (LTE) and non-L…
Probing highly obscured, self-absorbed galaxy nuclei with vibrationally excited HCN
S. Aalto, S. Martin F. Costagliola, E. Gonzalez-Alfonso +16
We present high resolution (0."4) IRAM PdBI and ALMA mm and submm observations of the (ultra) luminous infrared galaxies ((U)LIRGs) IRAS17208-0014, Arp220, IC860 and Zw049.057 that…
