Welcome back, Polaris the Cepheid
H. Bruntt, A. J. Penny, D. Stello +2
For about 100 years the amplitude of the 4-day pulsation in Polaris has decreased. We present new results showing a significant increase in the amplitude based on 4.5 years of cont…
Polaris the Cepheid returns: 4.5 years of monitoring from ground and space
H. Bruntt, N. R. Evans, D. Stello +6
We present the analysis of 4.5 years of nearly continuous observations of the classical Cepheid Polaris, which comprise the most precise data available for this star. We have made…
A Model for the Chromosphere/Wind of 31 Cygni and its Implications for Single Stars
Joel A. Eaton
I develop a detailed empirical model for the chromosphere and wind of 31 Cyg based on a previously published analysis of IUE spectra from the 1993 eclipse and on the thermodynamics…
Spurious Eccentricities of Distorted Binary Components
Joel A. Eaton
I discuss the effect of physical distortion on the velocities of close binary components and how we may use the resulting distortion of velocity curves to constrain some properties…
Orbits and Pulsations of the Classical ζAurigae Binaries
Joel A. Eaton, Gregory W. Henry, Andrew P. Odell
We have derived new orbits for zeta Aur, 32 Cyg, and 31 Cyg with observations from the TSU Automatic Spectroscopic Telescope and used them to identify non-orbital velocities of the…
