The Number Of Magnetic Null Points In The Quiet Sun Corona
D. W. Longcope, C. E. Parnell
The coronal magnetic field above a particular photospheric region will vanish at a certain number of points, called null points. These points can be found directly in a potential f…
A new view of quiet-Sun topology from Hinode/SOT
S. Regnier, C. E. Parnell, A. L. Haynes
With the recent launch of the Hinode satellite our view of the nature and evolution of quiet-Sun regions has been improved. In light of the new high resolution observations, we rev…
Solar Magnetic Tracking. I. Software Comparison and Recommended Practices
C. E. DeForest, H. J. Hagenaar, D. A. Lamb +2
Feature tracking and recognition are increasingly common tools for data analysis, but are typically implemented on an ad-hoc basis by individual research groups, limiting the usefu…
Elementary Heating Events - Magnetic Interactions Between Two Flux Sources. III Energy Considerations
K. Galsgaard, C. E. Parnell
The magnetic field plays a crucial role in heating the solar corona, but the exact energy release mechanism(s) is(are) still unknown. Here, we investigate in detail, the process of…
