Giants in the globular cluster omega Centauri: dust production, mass loss and distance
Iain McDonald, Jacco Th. van Loon, Leen Decin +5
We present spectral energy distribution modelling of 6875 stars in omega Centauri, obtaining stellar luminosities and temperatures by fitting literature photometry to state-of-the-…
A Spitzer search for cold dust within globular clusters
P. Barmby, M. L. Boyer, C. E. Woodward +5
Globular cluster stars evolving off the main sequence are known to lose mass, and it is expected that some of the lost material should remain within the cluster as an intracluster…
Spitzer Space Telescope evidence in NGC 6791: no super-mass-loss at super-solar metallicity to explain helium white dwarfs?
Jacco Th. van Loon, Martha L. Boyer, Iain McDonald
We use archival Spitzer Space Telescope photometry of the old, super-solar metallicity massive open cluster NGC 6791 to look for evidence of enhanced mass loss, which has been post…
A Spitzer Space Telescope Atlas of omega Centauri: The Stellar Population, Mass Loss, and the Intracluster Medium
Martha L. Boyer, Iain McDonald, Jacco Th. van Loon +4
We present a Spitzer Space Telescope imaging survey of the most massive Galactic globular cluster, omega Centauri, and investigate stellar mass loss at low metallicity and the intr…
