Diversity among other worlds: characterization of exoplanets by direct detection
J. Schneider, A. Boccaletti, A. Aylward +34
The physical characterization of exoplanets will require to take spectra at several orbital positions. For that purpose, a direct imaging capability is necessary. Direct imaging re…
Identifying the rotation rate and the presence of dynamic weather on extrasolar Earth-like planets from photometric observations
E. Palle, Eric B. Ford, S. Seager +2
With the recent discoveries of hundreds of extrasolar planets, the search for planets like Earth and life in the universe, is quickly gaining momentum. In the future, large space o…
Vegetation signature in the observed globally-integrated spectrum of Earth: Modeling the red edge strength using simultaneous cloud data and application for extrasolar planets
Pilar Montanes-Rodriguez, E. Palle, P. R. Goode
The vegetation's ``red edge'', an intensity bump in the Earth's spectrum near 700 when sunlight is reflected from greenery, is often suggested as a tool in the search for life…
Globally integrated measurements of the Earth's visible spectral albedo
P. Montanes-Rodriguez, E. Palle, P. R. Goode +2
We report spectroscopic observations of the earthshine reflected from the Moon. By applying our photometry methodology to spectroscopy, we were able to precisely determine the Eart…
