On-the-fly Large-scale Channel-Gain Estimation for Massive Antenna-Array Base Stations
Chenwei Wang, Ozgun Y. Bursalioglu, Haralabos Papadopoulos +1
We propose a novel scheme for estimating the large-scale gains of the channels between user terminals (UTs) and base stations (BSs) in a cellular system. The scheme leverages TDD o…
Fog Massive MIMO: A User-Centric Seamless Hot-Spot Architecture
Ozgun Y. Bursalioglu, Giuseppe Caire, Ratheesh K. Mungara +2
The decoupling of data and control planes, as proposed for 5G networks, will enable the efficient implementation of multitier networks where user equipment (UE) nodes obtain covera…
Predicting Wireless Channel Features using Neural Networks
Shiva Navabi, Chenwei Wang, Ozgun Y. Bursalioglu +1
We investigate the viability of using machine-learning techniques for estimating user-channel features at a large-array base station (BS). In the scenario we consider, user-pilot b…
Efficient C-RAN Random Access for IoT Devices: Learning Links via Recommendation Systems
Ozgun Y. Bursalioglu, Zheda Li, Chenwei Wang +1
We focus on C-RAN random access protocols for IoT devices that yield low-latency high-rate active-device detection in dense networks of large-array remote radio heads. In this cont…
