Gemini Mid-IR Polarimetry of NGC1068: Polarized Structures Around the Nucleus
C. Packham, S. Young, R. S. Fisher +7
We present diffraction limited, 10um imaging polarimetry data for the central regions of the archetypal Seyfert AGN, NGC1068. The position angle of polarization is consistent with…
Silicate absorption in heavily obscured galaxy nuclei
P. F. Roche, C. Packham, D. K. Aitken +1
Spectroscopy at 8-13 microns with T-ReCS on Gemini-S is presented for 3 galaxies with substantial silicate absorption features, NGC 3094, NGC 7172 and NGC 5506. In the galaxies wit…
Spectropolarimetry of the 3.4 micron Feature in the Diffuse ISM toward the Galactic Center Quintuplet Cluster
J. E. Chiar, A. J. Adamson, D. C. B. Whittet +6
Aliphatic hydrocarbons exhibit an absorption feature at 3.4 micron observed toward sources that sample diffuse regions of the interstellar medium. The absorbers responsible for thi…
Mid-infrared, spatially-resolved spectroscopy of the nucleus of the Circinus galaxy
P. F. Roche, C. Packham, C. M. Telesco +5
High spatial resolution spectroscopy at 8-13microns with T-ReCS on Gemini-S has revealed striking variations in the mid-infrared emission and absorption in the nucleus of the Circi…
