Ionization structure of the warm wind in NGC 5548
K. C. Steenbrugge, J. S. Kaastra, D. M. Crenshaw +7
We present the results from our 140 ks XMM-Newton and 500 ks Chandra observation of NGC 5548. The velocity structure of the X-ray absorber is consistent with the velocity structure…
XMM-Newton RGS and Chandra LETGS observations of the WHIM in 1ES 1028+511
K. C. Steenbrugge, F. Nicastro, M. Elvis
We report preliminary results on the detection of the Warm-Hot Intergalactic Medium (WHIM) along the line of sight toward the blazar 1ES 1028+511 (z = 0.361). 1ES 1028+511 was obse…
X-ray/UV Observing Campaign on the Mrk 279 AGN Outflow: A Global Fitting Analysis of the UV Absorption
Jack R. Gabel, Nahum Arav, Jelle S. Kaastra +12
We present an analysis of the intrinsic UV absorption in the Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 279 based on simultaneous long observations with the Hubble Space Telescope (41 ks) and the Far Ul…
Simultaneous X-ray and UV spectroscopy of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 5548.II. Physical conditions in the X-ray absorber
K. C. Steenbrugge, J. S. Kaastra, D. M. Crenshaw +8
We present the results from a 500 ks Chandra observation of the Seyfert 1 galaxy NGC 5548. We detect broadened emission lines of O VII and C VI in the spectra, similar to those obs…
