Broadband reduction of quantum radiation pressure noise via squeezed light injection
Min Jet Yap, Jonathan Cripe, Georgia L. Mansell +9
We present the reduction and manipulation of quantum radiation pressure noise (QRPN) in an optomechanical cavity with the injection of squeezed light. The optomechanical system con…
Improving astrophysical parameter estimation via offline noise subtraction for Advanced LIGO
J. C. Driggers, S. Vitale, A. P. Lundgren +228
The Advanced LIGO detectors have recently completed their second observation run successfully. The run lasted for approximately 10 months and lead to multiple new discoveries. The…
Observation of squeezed light in the 2 region
Georgia L. Mansell, Terry G. McRae, Paul A. Altin +5
We present the generation and detection of squeezed light in the 2 wavelength region. This experiment is a crucial step in realising the quantum noise reduction techn…
Identification and mitigation of narrow spectral artifacts that degrade searches for persistent gravitational waves in the first two observing runs of Advanced LIGO
P. B. Covas, A. Effler, E. Goetz +260
Searches are under way in Advanced LIGO and Virgo data for persistent gravitational waves from continuous sources, e.g. rapidly rotating galactic neutron stars, and stochastic sour…
