Busse balloon deformation and splitting by non-local interaction: the influence of grazing on a Klausmeier vegetation model
Eric Siero, Hannes Uecker
Large areas on all continents except Antarctica are covered by dryland vegetation patterns, with wavelengths typically in the range of tens of meters. In models, many wavelengths a…
Conditions for spatial instabilities and pattern formation from monomial steady state parameterizations
Carsten Conradi, Maya Mincheva, Hannes Uecker
We study the onset of spatial instabilities in reaction networks where the spatially homogeneous system admits a steady state parameterization. We formulate a sufficient condition…
Traveling vegetation-herbivore waves can sustain ecosystems threatened by droughts and population growth
Joydeep Singha, Hannes Uecker, Ehud Meron
Dryland vegetation can survive water stress by forming spatial patterns but is often subjected to herbivory as an additional stress that puts it at risk of desertification. Underst…
Phase transitions and minimal interfaces on manifolds with conical singularities
Daniel Grieser, Sina Held, Hannes Uecker +1
Using -convergence, we study the Cahn-Hilliard problem with interface width parameter for phase transitions on manifolds with conical singularities. We prove t…
