Deep Learning for Astrophysics: An Open Textbook from the NASA Cosmic Origins AI/ML Science and Technology Interest Group
Yuan-Sen Ting, Digvijay Wadekar, Phill Cargile +21
Recent community assessments identify education as a principal barrier to adopting modern machine learning in astronomy. We present Deep Learning for Astrophysics, a freely availab…
Ultra-low noise laser and optical frequency comb-based timing system for the Black Hole Explorer (BHEX) mission
Hannah Tomio, Guangning Yang, Holly F. Leopardi +8
In this effort, we demonstrate the performance of a highly stable time reference for the proposed Black Hole Explorer (BHEX) mission, a space-based extension to the Event Horizon T…
The Black Hole Explorer: Motivation and Vision
Michael D. Johnson, Kazunori Akiyama, Rebecca Baturin +65
We present the Black Hole Explorer (BHEX), a mission that will produce the sharpest images in the history of astronomy by extending submillimeter Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry…
The Black Hole Explorer: Operating a Hybrid Observatory
Sara Issaoun, Kim Alonso, Kazunori Akiyama +16
We present a baseline science operations plan for the Black Hole Explorer (BHEX), a space mission concept aiming to confirm the existence of the predicted sharp ``photon ring" resu…
