Highly Ionized Oxygen in the Circumgalactic Medium of TNG100 Galaxies: Distributions, Thermal States, and Ionization Mechanisms
Yossi Oren, Amiel Sternberg, Christopher F. McKee +1
We investigate the origin of the highly ionized oxygen species, O VI, O VII, and O VIII, in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of galaxies at redshifts , by post-processi…
TNG SAM: Bridging Hydrodynamical Complexity and Semi-Analytic Efficiency to Model Galaxy Formation
Osase Omoruyi, Bryan A. Terrazas, Yossi Oren +5
All cosmological models of galaxy formation must navigate the trade-off between physical accuracy and computational efficiency. Hydrodynamical simulations provide spatially resolve…
The Cosmic Baryon Cycle in IllustrisTNG: flows of mass, energy, and metals
Yossi Oren, Viraj Pandya, Rachel S. Somerville +3
We measure and analyze the inflows and outflows of mass, energy, and metals through the interstellar medium (ISM) and circumgalactic medium (CGM) of galaxies in the IllustrisTNG100…
Sunyaev-Zeldovich Signals from Galaxies: Observations, Analytics, and Simulations
Yossi Oren, Amiel Sternberg, Christopher F. McKee +2
We analyze measurements of the thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich (tSZ) effect arising in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of galaxies, reported by Bregman et al. 2022 and Das et al. 2…
