Inferring Planet and Disk Parameters from Protoplanetary Disk Images Using a Variational Autoencoder
Sayed Shafaat Mahmud, Sayantan Auddy, Neal Turner +1
Dust-continuum observations of many protoplanetary disks reveal rings and gaps that are widely interpreted as evidence of ongoing planet formation. Here we present the first framew…
Separating Photospheric and Starspot Magnetic Fields in Pre-Main-Sequence Stars Using IGRINS Spectroscopy
Facundo Pérez Paolino, Lynne Hillenbrand, Jeff Bary
Magnetic fields in pre main sequence stars regulate angular momentum evolution, drive magnetic activity, and modify stellar structure, yet their surface distributions remain poorly…
VADER: A Variational Autoencoder to Infer Planetary Masses and Gas-Dust Disk Properties Around Young Stars
Sayed Shafaat Mahmud, Sayantan Auddy, Neal Turner +1
We present \textbf{VADER} (Variational Autoencoder for Disks Embedded with Rings), for inferring both planet mass and global disk properties from high-resolution ALMA dust continuu…
Spectral Biases, Starspot Morphology, and Dynamo Transitions on the Pre-Main Sequence: Insights from the X-Shooter WTTS Library
Facundo Pérez Paolino, Jeff Bary, Benjamin Horner +2
Starspots are ubiquitous in young, low-mass stars, yet their impact on the spectral classification and fundamental parameter inference of pre-main sequence stars (PMS) has been lar…
