The vertical effects of disc non-axisymmetries from perturbation theory: the case of the Galactic bar
Giacomo Monari, Benoit Famaey, Arnaud Siebert
Evidence for non-zero mean stellar velocities in the direction perpendicular to the Galactic plane has been accumulating from various recent large spectroscopic surveys. Previous a…
Spiral and bar driven peculiar velocities in Milky Way sized galaxy simulations
Robert J. J. Grand, Jo Bovy, Daisuke Kawata +5
We investigate the kinematic signatures induced by spiral and bar structure in a set of simulations of Milky Way-sized spiral disc galaxies. The set includes test particle simulati…
Selecting Sagittarius: Identification and Chemical Characterization of the Sagittarius Stream
E. A. Hyde, S. Keller, D. B. Zucker +11
Wrapping around the Milky Way, the Sagittarius stream is the dominant substructure in the halo. Our statistical selection method has allowed us to identify 106 highly likely member…
Identification of Globular Cluster Stars in RAVE data I: Application to Stellar Parameter Calibration
B. Anguiano, D. B. Zucker, R. -D. Scholz +22
We present the identification of potential members of nearby Galactic globular clusters using radial velocities from the RAdial Velocity Experiment Data Release 4 (RAVE-DR4) survey…
