Short-term dynamical evolution of grand-design spirals in barred galaxies
Junichi Baba
We investigate the short-term dynamical evolution of stellar grand-design spiral arms in barred spiral galaxies using a three-dimensional (3D) -body/hydrodynamic simulation. Sim…
Redshift evolution of stellar mass versus gas fraction relation in 0<z<2 regime: observational constraint for galaxy formation models
Kana Morokuma-Matsui, Junichi Baba
We investigate the redshift evolution of the molecular gas mass fraction (f_mol=M_mol/(M_star+M_mol), where M_mol is molecular gas mass and M_star is stellar mass) of galaxies in t…
Radial distributions of arm-gas offsets as an observational test of spiral theories
Junichi Baba, Kana Morokuma-Matsui, Fumi Egusa
Theories of stellar spiral arms in disk galaxies can be grouped into two classes based on the longevity of a spiral arm. Although the quasi-stationary density wave theory supposes…
CO emissions from optically selected galaxies at z~0.1-0.2: Tight anti-correlation between molecular gas fraction and 4000 Åbreak strength
Kana Morokuma-Matsui, Junichi Baba, Kazuo Sorai +1
We performed 12CO(J=1-0) (hereafter, CO) observations towards 12 normal star-forming galaxies with stellar mass of Mstar=10^10.6-10^11.3 Msun at z=0.1-0.2 with the 45-m telescope a…
