The physics and astrophysics of X-ray outflows from Active Galactic Nuclei
Sibasish Laha, Randall Smith, Panayiotis Tzanavaris +20
The highly energetic outflows from Active Galactic Nuclei detected in X-rays are one of the most powerful mechanisms by which the central supermassive black hole (SMBH) interacts w…
An outflow in the Seyfert ESO 362-G18 revealed by Gemini-GMOS/IFU Observations
Pedro K. Humire, Neil M. Nagar, Carolina Finlez +14
We present two-dimensional stellar and gaseous kinematics of the inner 0.7 1.2 kpc of the Seyfert galaxy ESO 362-G18, derived from optical spectra obtained with the…
Gemini NIFS survey of feeding and feedback processes in nearby Active Galaxies: II -The sample and surface mass density profiles
R. A. Riffel, T. Storchi-Bergmann, R. Riffel +10
We present and characterize a sample of 20 nearby Seyfert galaxies selected for having BAT 14--195keV luminosities erg s, redshift 0.015, being acc…
Active Galactic Nuclei and their role in Galaxy Formation and Evolution
Steve Kraemer, Rogier Windhorst, Kenneth G. Carpenter +3
There are several key open questions as to the nature and origin of AGN including: 1) what initiates the active phase, 2) the duration of the active phase, and 3) the effect of the…
