The Population of Tiny Near-Earth Objects Observed by NEOWISE
A. Mainzer, J. Bauer, T. Grav +8
Only a very small fraction of the asteroid population at size scales comparable to the object that exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia has been discovered to date, and physical prope…
Development of sensitive long-wave infrared detector arrays for passively cooled space missions
Craig McMurtry, Donald Lee, James Beletic +10
The near-earth object camera (NEOCam) is a proposed infrared space mission designed to discover and characterize most of the potentially hazardous asteroids larger than 140 m in di…
Centaurs and Scattered Disk Objects in the Thermal Infrared: Analysis of WISE/NEOWISE Observations
James M. Bauer, Tommy Grav, Erin Blauvelt +22
The Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) observed 52 Centaurs and Scattered Disk Objects in the thermal infrared, including the 15 discoveries that were new. We present analy…
Asteroid family identification using the Hierarchical Clustering Method and WISE/NEOWISE physical properties
Joseph R. Masiero, A. K. Mainzer, J. M. Bauer +3
Using albedos from WISE/NEOWISE to separate distinct albedo groups within the Main Belt asteroids, we apply the Hierarchical Clustering Method to these subpopulations and identify…
