The Sloan Digital Sky Survey quasar catalog: tenth data release
Isabelle Pâris, Patrick Petitjean, Éric Aubourg +47
We present the Data Release 10 Quasar (DR10Q) catalog from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III. The catalog includes all BOSS obj…
The Large-scale Distribution of Cool Gas around Luminous Red Galaxies
Guangtun Zhu, Brice Ménard, Dmitry Bizyaev +12
We present a measurement of the correlation function between luminous red galaxies and cool gas traced by Mg II λλ2796, 2803 absorption, on scales ranging from about 30 kpc to 20 M…
Discovery of a Dynamical Cold Point in the Heart of the Sagittarius dSph Galaxy with Observations from the APOGEE Project
Steven R. Majewski, Sten Hasselquist, Ewa L. Łokas +30
The dynamics of the core of the Sagittarius (Sgr) dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxy are explored using high-resolution (R~22,500), H-band, near-infrared spectra of over 1,000 giant st…
Host Galaxy Spectra and Consequences for SN Typing From The SDSS SN Survey
Matthew D. Olmstead, Peter J. Brown, Masao Sako +28
We present the spectroscopy from 5254 galaxies that hosted supernovae (SNe) or other transient events in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey II (SDSS-II). Obtained during SDSS-I, SDSS-II,…
The Open Cluster Chemical Analysis and Mapping Survey: Local Galactic Metallicity Gradient with APOGEE using SDSS DR10
Peter M. Frinchaboy, Benjamin Thompson, Kelly M. Jackson +31
The Open Cluster Chemical Analysis and Mapping (OCCAM) Survey aims to produce a comprehensive, uniform, infrared-based dataset for hundreds of open clusters, and constrain key Gala…
A glance at the host galaxy of high-redshift quasars using strong damped Lyman-alpha systems as coronagraphs
Hayley Finley, Patrick Petitjean, Isabelle Pâris +14
We searched quasar spectra from the SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) for the rare occurrences where a strong damped Lyman-alpha absorber (DLA) blocks the Bro…
