Simultaneous Six-way Observations from the Navy Precision Optical Interferometer
Ellyn K. Baines, Solvay Blomquist, James H. Clark +7
We measured the angular diameters of six stars using the 6-element observing mode of the Navy Precision Optical Interferometer (NPOI) for the first time since the early 2000s. Four…
Thirty-Three New Stellar Angular Diameters from the NPOI, and Nearly 180 NPOI Diameters as an Ensemble
Ellyn K. Baines, James H. Clark, Henrique R. Schmitt +2
We present new angular diameter measurements for 33 stars from the Navy Precision Optical Interferometer, reaching uncertainties on the limb-darkened diameter of 2% or less for 21…
Angular Diameters and Fundamental Parameters of Forty-Four Stars from the Navy Precision Optical Interferometer
Ellyn K. Baines, J. Thomas Armstrong, James H. Clark +9
We measured the angular diameters of 44 stars with the Navy Precision Optical Interferometer, obtaining uncertainties on the limb darkened diameter of 2% or less for all but four s…
A High Angular Resolution Survey of Massive Stars in Cygnus OB2: Adaptive Optics Results from the Gemini Near-InfraRed Imager
S. M. Caballero-Nieves, D. R. Gies, E. K. Baines +8
We present results of a high angular resolution survey of massive OB stars in the Cygnus OB2 association that we conducted with the NIRI camera and ALTAIR adaptive optics system of…
Astro2020 Science White Paper: High Angular Resolution Astrophysics - Fundamental Stellar Parameters
Gerard van Belle, Ellyn Baines, Tabetha Boyajian +8
Direct determination of fundamental stellar parameters has many profound and wide-ranging impacts throughout astrophysics. These determinations are rooted in high angular resolutio…
Precision Analysis of Evolved Stars
Stephen Ridgway, Rachel Akeson, Ellyn Baines +20
Evolved stars dominate galactic spectra, enrich the galactic medium, expand to change their planetary systems, eject winds of a complex nature, produce spectacular nebulae and illu…
