Fiber-based scanning levitated nanoparticle force sensor near a metalized membrane
Andrew M. Dana, Samuel J. Borden, Nia Burrell +10
We describe a fiber-based dual-beam trap for dielectric nanospheres with the ability to transfer the trapped particles into a retro-reflective standing-wave trap within micron-rang…
Localized efficient in-vacuum loading of 0.1-10 m spherical and plate-like particles into optical traps using a pulled glass capillary
Alexey Grinin, Andrew Dana, Mark Nguyen +8
We demonstrate a compact piezoelectric-driven micropipette launcher for localized in-vacuum delivery of nano- and microparticles into optical traps. The launcher has been integrate…
A method for optically trapping nanospheres at micron range from a tilted mirror
Alexey Grinin, Andrew Dana, Mark Nguyen +2
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel optical method for trapping and cooling dielectric nanospheres at (sub)-micron distances from a reflective metallic surface. By tr…
Optimal displacement detection of arbitrarily-shaped levitated dielectric objects using optical radiation
Shaun Laing, Shelby Klomp, George Winstone +6
Optically-levitated dielectric objects are promising for precision force, acceleration, torque, and rotation sensing due to their extreme environmental decoupling. While many levit…
