ESO White Paper on Intensity Interferometry: Cosmology, Fundamental Physics, Quantum Optics
Robin Kaiser, William Guerin, Farrokh Vakili +21
In this whitepaper, we outline how recent technological advances and ongoing developments open qualitatively new science opportunities in cosmology, fundamental physics, and quantu…
Dark Matter Haloscope with a Disordered Dielectric Absorber
Stewart Koppell, Otavio D. A. R. Bittencourt, Dip Joti Paul +3
Light dark matter candidates such as axions and dark photons generically couple to electromagnetism, yielding dark-matter-to-photon conversion as a key search strategy. In addition…
Search for continuous gravitational wave signals from luminous dark photon superradiance clouds with LVK O3 observations
Lorenzo Mirasola, Cristina Mondino, Francesco Amicucci +10
Superradiance clouds of kinetically-mixed dark photons around spinning black holes can produce observable multi-messenger electromagnetic and gravitational wave signals. The cloud…
Pi in the Sky: Neutron Stars with Exceptionally Light QCD Axions
Mia Kumamoto, Junwu Huang, Christian Drischler +2
We present a comprehensive study of axion condensed neutron stars that arise in models of an exceptionally light axion that couples to quantum chromodynamics (QCD). These axions so…
