A Real-World Energy Management Dataset from a Smart Company Building for Optimization and Machine Learning
Jens Engel, Andrea Castellani, Patricia Wollstadt +9
We present a large real-world dataset obtained from monitoring a smart company facility over the course of six years, from 2018 to 2023. The dataset includes energy consumption dat…
Evaluating the Impact of Data Availability on Machine Learning-augmented MPC for a Building Energy Management System
Jens Engel, Thomas Schmitt, Tobias Rodemann +1
A major challenge in the development of Model Predictive Control (MPC)-based energy management systems (EMSs) for buildings is the availability of an accurate model. One approach t…
Implicit Incorporation of Heuristics in MPC-Based Control of a Hydrogen Plant
Thomas Schmitt, Jens Engel, Martin Kopp +1
The replacement of fossil fuels in combination with an increasing share of renewable energy sources leads to an increased focus on decentralized microgrids. One option is the local…
Regression-Based Model Error Compensation for Hierarchical MPC Building Energy Management System
Thomas Schmitt, Jens Engel, Tobias Rodemann
One of the major challenges in the development of energy management systems (EMSs) for complex buildings is accurate modeling. To address this, we propose an EMS, which combines a…
