A mixing length model for arbitrary geometry: the case of parallel flows
Vincent Labarre, Christophe Josserand, Martine Le Berre +3
We present a phenomenological model for the mixing length used in turbulence models. It has the advantage of naturally accounting for the object's geometry while satisfying the sta…
2D Internal Gravity Wave Turbulence
Vincent Labarre, Michal Shavit
Using weak wave turbulence theory analysis, we distinguish three main regimes for 2D stratified fluids in the dimensionless parameter space defined by the Froude number and the Rey…
Wave-kinetic dynamics of forced-dissipated turbulent internal gravity waves
Vincent Labarre, Giorgio Krstulovic, Sergey Nazarenko
Internal gravity waves are an essential feature of stratified media, such as oceans and atmospheres. To investigate their dynamics, we perform simulations of the forced-dissipated…
On the kinetics of internal gravity waves beyond the hydrostatic regime
Vincent Labarre, Nicolas Lanchon, Pierre-Philippe Cortet +2
We present a new derivation of the kinetic equation for weak, non-hydrostatic internal gravity wave turbulence. The equation is equivalent to the one obtained by Caillol & Zeitlin…
