The ethics of artificial intelligence in the life sciences: Universality, cultural diversity and an architecture of care
Jean-Pierre Changeux, Gustavo Deco, Morten L. Kringelbach
The life sciences and health research have started to benefit from artificial intelligence, which raises ethical concerns that are real but, we argue, not special. Any science shou…
Nonequilibrium physics of brain dynamics
Ramón Nartallo-Kaluarachchi, Morten L. Kringelbach, Gustavo Deco +2
Information processing in the brain is coordinated by the dynamic activity of neurons and neural populations at a range of spatiotemporal scales. These dynamics, captured in the fo…
Deep learning and whole-brain networks for biomarker discovery: modeling the dynamics of brain fluctuations in resting-state and cognitive tasks
Facundo Roffet, Gustavo Deco, Claudio Delrieux +1
Background: Brain network models offer insights into brain dynamics, but the utility of model-derived bifurcation parameters as biomarkers remains underexplored. Objective: This st…
Broken detailed balance and entropy production in directed networks
Ramón Nartallo-Kaluarachchi, Malbor Asllani, Gustavo Deco +3
The structure of a complex network plays a crucial role in determining its dynamical properties. In this work, we show that the the degree to which a network is directed and hierar…
