Revealing the high redshift host galaxy of the short GRB 061201 with JWST
Yuhan Mao, Hanrui He, Jia Ren +6
Using deep near-infrared and optical images from JWST and HST, we identify a new host galaxy candidate for GRB 061201. It lies ~2" from the optical afterglow position. Photometric…
Neutron Star Merger Rates from Multi-messenger Observations: Clues to the Physical Origin of the Short and Long-short Gamma-ray Bursts
Zhi-Ping Jin, Yuan-Zhu Wang, Yin-Jie Li +4
Short and long-short gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are widely believed to be powered by neutron star mergers. In this work, we calculate local rate of such GRBs and find a relatively hig…
An extreme particle accelerator powered by pulsar PSR J1849-0001
The LHAASO Collaboration
Pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe) are bubbles of relativistic particles, powered by the rotational energy loss of the central pulsars. The Crab Nebula, powered by the Milky Way's most ene…
Illuminating the Mass Gap Through Deep Optical Constraint on a Neutron Star Merger Candidate S250206dm
Zhengyan Liu, Zelin Xu, Ji-an Jiang +35
The gravitational wave (GW) event S250206dm, as the first well-localized neutron star merger candidate potentially located in the mass gap, presented a unique opportunity to probe…
