Energy-Neutral Coverage Optimization by Joint Deployment and Scheduling in Ambient IoT Devices with Directional Sensing
David E. Ruíz-Guirola, Samuel Montejo-Sánchez, Richard Demo Souza +1
Ambient IoT (A-IoT) devices rely on energy harvesting and duty cycling to sustain operation, thereby fundamentally changing collaborative sensing compared with traditional always-O…
Sense-then-Charge: Wireless Power Transfer to Unresponsive Devices with Unknown Location
Amirhossein Azarbahram, Onel L. A. López, Richard D. Souza +2
This paper explores a multi-antenna dual-functional radio frequency (RF) wireless power transfer (WPT) and radar system to charge multiple unresponsive devices. We formulate a beam…
Assessment of the Sparsity-Diversity Trade-offs in Active Users Detection for mMTC with the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit
Gabriel Martins de Jesus, Onel Luis Alcaraz Lopez, Richard Demo Souza +3
Wireless communication systems must increasingly support a multitude of machine-type communications (MTC) devices, thus calling for advanced strategies for active user detection (A…
High-Power and Safe RF Wireless Charging: Cautious Deployment and Operation
Onel L. A. López, Osmel M. Rosabal, Amirhossein Azarbahram +5
The wired charging and the need for battery replacements are critical barriers to unlimited, scalable, and sustainable mobile connectivity, motivating the interest in radio frequen…
