Certified surface approximations using the interval Krawczyk test
Michael Burr, Jonathan D. Hauenstein, Kisun Lee
We propose an algorithm to construct a certified approximation of a surface by generalizing the Krawczyk test. The Krawczyk test is based on interval arithmetic, and confirms the e…
Numerical Elimination: Computing Complements of Real Hypersurfaces Using Pseudo-Witness Sets
Paul Breiding, John Cobb, Aviva K. Englander +6
Many hypersurfaces in algebraic geometry, such as discriminants, arise as the projection of another variety. The real complement of such a hypersurface decomposes into connected co…
Routing functions for parameter space decomposition to describe stability landscapes of ecological models
Joseph Cummings, Kyle J. -M. Dahlin, Elizabeth Gross +1
Changes in environmental or system parameters often drive major biological transitions, including ecosystem collapse, disease outbreaks, and tumor development. Analyzing the stabil…
Stochastic Exploration of Real Varieties via Variety Distributions
David Kahle, Jonathan D Hauenstein
Nonlinear systems of polynomial equations arise naturally in many applied settings, for example loglinear models on contingency tables and Gaussian graphical models. The solution s…
