A universal brown dwarf desert formed between planets and stars
Kaiming Cui, Guang-Yao Xiao, Fabo Feng +10
Giant planets and brown dwarfs play a crucial role in star and planet formation, as they are situated at the boundary between planets and stars with uncertain formation mechanisms.…
Exploring the Neptunian Desert: Insights from a Homogeneous Planetary Sample
Lauren Doyle, David J. Armstrong, Lorena Acuña +26
In this paper, we present a homogeneous analysis of close-in Neptune planets. To do this, we compile a sample of TESS-observed planets using a ranking criterion which takes into ac…
A Population Synthesis Study on the Formation of Cold Jupiters from Truncated Planetesimal Disks
Kangrou Guo, Masahiro Ogihara, Shigeru Ida +3
The occurrence rate of giant planets increases with orbital period and turns over at a location that roughly corresponds to the snow line of solar-type stars. Further, the density…
History and Habitability of the LP 890-9 Planetary System
Rory Barnes, Laura N. R. do Amaral, Jessica Birky +42
We present numerous aspects of the evolution of the LP 890-9 (SPECULOOS-2/TOI-4306) planetary system, focusing on the likelihood that planet c can support life. We find that the ho…
